ROUTE GUIDE

Serbia route guide

General information on customs, documents and border crossing. For situations specific to your cargo and product, consult your customs broker.

Origin documents and customs preparation

Türkiye and Serbia have a free trade agreement. Preferential tariffs depend on the goods meeting the origin rules and on suitable proof of origin being presented. Confirm whether an EUR.1 and any additional documents are appropriate for your goods and shipment with your customs broker.

Route and transit documents

Road cargo from Türkiye to Serbia usually passes through an EU member such as Bulgaria. In that case the cargo is not cleared in the EU country it crosses; it travels to Serbia under a transit regime (with a TIR carnet or a T1 transit declaration). The transit document must be discharged at the destination customs office within its validity period.

Transport permits

Road transport between Türkiye and Serbia is subject to a bilateral transport agreement and to the system of transit permits distributed by the Ministry of Transport. Permit quotas can change over time, so the current situation should be checked when planning a shipment.

Delivery planning

Loading and delivery dates are planned around border crossings, transit document preparation and customs formalities. Seasonal congestion and public holidays may affect the plan.

Checklist before loading
  • Commercial invoice and packing list are consistent and complete.
  • Suitable proof of origin is ready if preferential tariff treatment is requested.
  • Information for the transit document (TIR carnet or T1) is clear.
  • The address and contact details of the consignee in Serbia are complete.
Common document issues
  • Quantities and weights on the commercial invoice and the packing list do not match.
  • The description of the goods is too general, so the customs tariff code cannot be determined.
  • Proof of origin needed for preferential treatment is missing or incorrect; the expected tariff may not apply.
  • The consignee's telephone number and contact person are missing, which delays the delivery appointment.
